I am checking matching on C64 Goodname.

Adverts for example I got 997 matches.

I have 3338 adverts in my old files ( of wich 95% are not named exactly right ).

I want to compare this to your available source to get some info on matching, but I cant find C64 in your ftp? Am I blind or are you not keeping a lot of the smaller systems there?

The adverts on the server are a mess, can you upload what you have and I bet I can get it fixed tonight.

I doubt you can get them done in a night. There are thousands to be renamed.

My main goal was to test the matching engine by looking at your file source. Can you dump a filelist from the server so I can hit it up against my matched list.

Uploading to WIP/Stub/C64

no point, they are named like ad&d1 and so on, ill tell you what, as soon as your set is uploaded, I'll pop it in on the server and then you can match it

On second glance, while yours are better than mine they are a mess as well. I am seeing this with alot of the adverts that initially went up. They need to be game name specific. Let me see what I can do with yours.

That's no mess, Maps, now that is a mess. It is much smaller. I have 80 to your 31, But there are multiple different pic formats, one is in a pdf, several are multiple jpegs that could use to be joined together, one is text, and one is even and xls that could use redoing into something else.

Also all those adverts are [developer]_[game].

I was going to write a quickie to strip off all the names of major companies at some point, to make matching easier, but haven't yet.

Downloading C64 Video set of 122. It looks suspicious. Mainly because 112 of them start with numbers or the letter A. The remaining 10 are from the last letters of the alphabet.

Without knowing what you have server side I cant say anything on the quality of the matching.

Me too and I had not yet downloaded a single file. I got the error while it was seemingly scanning my Genesis folder. But as of yet I have 0 files other than the roms.

I will see about getting you a listing, these came out of the wip folders i believe.

Thanks for you're work Circo. Since GameEX and HS both support flv, is there any more need to be doing avi anymore?

I really think that time will come, does Mala and Maximus support FLV?

Also updated the following sets on the download service tonight

GameBoy - Video Snaps - FLV

GameBoy - TV Adverts - AVI

Great idea!

Glad I could help. Very very wonderful service you have, and this program has finally convinced me to subscribe sometime.

Infinitely handy mate.

Also, one more suggestion, although I'm not so sure how it would work in practice... An offline mode?

An offline mode as in, the subscriber has already downloaded full collections for their purpose, but now wants to sort (copy to new location) the files that match a different romset.

Example being, an arcade machine builder, such as I, will have full libraries of art/movies at some point, and will do new installs to new machines, using a different romset for the customers. To enhance their product we would also include videos, art, and text for the frontend.

Rather than use your tool to re-download all of this again for a differing romset, would it be possible to set a directory of content to be something like a mirror of your content, and so copy files to a new install from that?

I already do this with batch files for mame artwork (such as marquees to wheels for hyperspin), but it could very well be another good feature to consider at a later date.

Maybe even use both, like perhaps *local mirror + * external mirror?

It would have to cut down on traffic atleast :)

great progamm

I got problems if downloading of gameboy advance media. The Downloader is complaining about to long filenames (no intro romsets of gba).

lengh >255

Im not sure what can be done about that. .net has a limitation on path size. Is the error a windows.net error? Can uou post a screenshot and can you try and figure out what the filename and path in questions is?

Many thanks
