Thanks for putting together these lists brolly.  I've made a few captures recently only to realize they were unnecessary (specifically starting work on translated famicom games before the recent update and japanese & translated pc-engine games before realizing that the folder was distinct from turbografx-16 on the ftp).  This list is great for providing some direction.

 

As to the contents of the list, I uploaded clips for Baroque and Linkle Liver Story to the ftp a few days ago.  I'll try to knock out the other remaining Saturn game as well.  I'll also volunteer for Game Boy Color (or any other Nintendo cartridge based systems you want to assign me instead).

Due to my power being out for so long because of bad weather, I had to start all over due to my external HDD getting corrupted. Let me know what games we still need video snaps for on the SNES and I'll do them. Otherwise, I'll continue to work on "refresh" stuff. I also plan to do stuff for the Wii, but I'm afraid my Wii collection is limited due to the amount of HDD space I have at the moment, so alot of the Wii videos I submit will be virtual console games and WiiWare (Mega Man 9, 10, Contra, Castlevania, etc)

Refresh stuff is the name of the game till we get through it.  With wii I have found that my hardware capture does a much better job than any software solution, fraps, etc.  But if you want a real challenge after this I would love to have some help with DS.  Its not hard on the system and there is a ton of games to do.  I have an online spreadsheet going to track our progress.

Can someone recomend a good software for rendering screen captures from FRAPS or Camtasia to mp4 without changing the FPS to 30? I'd like to keep the 60 FPS without having to resample. I've been using a few workarounds to achive this, but there has got to be an easier way....

Basically I'm looking for software that will allow me to edit my gameplay capture and title capture together with transitions, fades, stuff like that and export to H264 MP4 without dropping down the FPS? Or a software that will allow me to import the FRAPS .avi, do the editing I need to do, then export without re-encoding....

 

Camtasia is decent for editing but the MP4 encoder only goes to the standard 30FPS... I'm just wondering how you guys are maintaining your 60 FPS from fraps going to MP4. I've been having to re-encode to .mov than to mp4....

Riffman, have you viewed the tutorial?

 

You should not be using camtasia for anything really.  And for submissions it is GREATLY preferred you submit separate videos for gameplay and title.  Also there are proper codecs to use.

You can submit the original avi files and Circo will take care of the conversion. Only thing you need is VirtualDub to cut the original clips into 30 sec. and 5 sec.

 

That being said, my favorite editing tool is Sony Vegas and as long as you keep the same settings as the original file there will be no re-encoding. This will allow you to add any sort of effects you can think about and there are also a lot of cool effect plugins for it. Then just use FFMPEG for the MP4 encoding.

 

Camtasia editor actually sucks big time I wouldn't suggest you to use that at all, it does work fine for me on capturing though, and version 6 seems to be the best of the bunch.

 

But right now my encoding process is basically use a AviSynth script to cut, add transitions, fading, etc. to the source avi files and then convert to MP4 with FFMPEG, much easier and faster than manually editing every single video. I believe this is pretty much the workflow Circo uses too.

I only use Vegas when I want to tweak the transitions which doesn't happen very often.
