Atari 8-Bit Intro Video

Emulator : Either Altirra or Atari800

I'm working on a XML for this every now and then (one of the hardest ones due to the different models, BASIC usage, etc.), but in the end it will probably be around 3,000 games...

I can give you a list of a handful of games if you want to do some videos so you can build an intro for it though.

Better get that sweat shop running at full power then :)

Here are some good games you can base your intro in:

Boulder Dash

Montezuma's Revenge

Knight Lore

Alley Cat

Rescue on Fractalus

International Karate

Pitfall 2 - Lost Caverns

Bomb Jack

Sea Dragon

KikStart

BMX Simulator

Astro Chase

Donkey Kong

Eidolon

How about adding Jumpman.  :)

and make sure it's one of the 3000 games in the XML please.

Look at the naming, I'm guessing this was probably exported from Gamebase? Don't know why Gamebase guys use horrible non-standard names, it's a complete mess to look at most of their files.

Also doesn't seem like it includes all commercial games, just quickly checked the ones starting by numbers and 747 Flight Simulator is missing.

That being said you can start doing the videos based on those, then it's just a matter of renaming them don't let this stop you :)

They were only posted for people here that would like to use them and not wait for the wheel to be re-invented. It's good that you feel you want to put the same time into what's already been done anyway. This is where people differ. You got your people who just want to play the games & the people that have to be pristine.

To get that into your naming convention wouldn't take 10 minutes anyway , would it? I can't see much wrong with the description, genre, year & manufacturer.

Some gamebases in no way can include every single game unfortunately and quite frankly not too worried about that because they get very little play, at least from me anyway. And by christ if I have to play one more flight simulator from any 8-16 bit comp I will go insane.

I'm known for my OCD when it comes to database creation so I can't see a missing commercial game.

Like I said I'm already working on a 8-bit XML so it will get done eventually with proper naming, I was just answering Circo about why those couldn't be in HyperList wasn't criticizing them, I'm aware that for most people naming means nothing and as long as the most important games work they are good with it.

There's more info needed for each game though, like if it requires Atari BASIC or if it needs a specific OS to run, I'm keeping track of all this when doing the database as this info is needed for the module so the games can be properly launched.

Yeah, this is what I mean about the wheel reinventing because the gamebase pretty much has all this down per rom. I don't have to worry about that because it's done with the GBLauncher.

If you really wanted all of that without more work it can be extracted with m$ access.

Ah you're launching them directly through Gamebase, ok I see. The amount of work needed to parse and convert the info from gamebase and all the double checking needed afterwards wouldn't be worth it as it wouldn't really save me much time (tried this before for a couple of systems), better do it from scratch with the help of some scrappers :)

I already have a pretty good method for large dbs so it's no big deal, it just takes some time and concentration.
