GameEx front end is so easy...

Recommended Posts

I always used coinops pre configured FE's for my retro gaming.  they are so unbelievably awesome and everything is included just extract and play.  those guys over at coinops are geniuses.  i was bored this past weekend so i decided to create my own FE and discovered gameEX.  it's so easy to setup and w/ my emumovies acct. they automatically download all the art for every system.  it's so cool.  the only thing i needed was to download avi video snaps.  12 hrs later i have one deadly build.  just letting anyone know that's looking for an easy and awesome front end that gameEX is the way to go.

CoinOps isn't a frontend. It's a build of RetroFE. It's "awesome" because it violates the art sharing rules here and includes ROM files. They are anything but geniuses, they are idiots. Instead of improving what they rely on (the frontend) they hack together garbage using other ppl's assets. They couldn't code "hello world" if their lives depended on it. You didn't "create" your own frontend, and it's a bad one since it paywalls functionality. GameEX is hardly the way to go, even when compared to for profit frontends.

Going back to Front Ends, I've had a lifetime membership to RetroX for a while.  I like how it does most of the setup for you, including downloading art (although you can still load images using an EmuMovies account).  I also really like the cheats menu, pre-loaded and simple.

That being said, I'm looking into other options, especially since RetroX is limited to Android (a Linux port has been worked on for a few years but no release yet).  I like what Launchbox has done on the PC, and will likely snag BigBox and the Android version via lifetime access (I prefer to just pay once).  I know there's a few other FEs floating around on Android like Dig and Arc, but I haven't dabbled with them much yet, and it seems Launchbox has some major community support.  Still like my RetroX setup too though.
