Other then the marketing information above, can someone tell me what rocket lainches is?  Is this just another front end or does this add to a front end?  Are their competitors to rocket launcher?

I am planning to use launchbox/big box as my front end.  

While trying to find emulators I stumbled across retroarch which created a whole new layer of configuration.  I guess I am trying to understand just how deep the rabid hole goes as I try to setup an ultimate media PC.  I would also like this platform to work for movies and music etc.
