badflame March 16, 2016 Share March 16, 2016 I think it could be helpful for newbies, like me, make a list of recommendations for each platform/system emulators. Also, indicate the reasons why one is better than another. Greetings.
talbin March 16, 2016 Share March 16, 2016 There is already a pretty good list here: http://www.rlauncher.com/forum/showthread.php?2803-Best-Emulator-For-Each-System 1
badflame March 17, 2016 Author Share March 17, 2016 Thanks talbin But, the sense of this thread is, rather, that everyone expose their personal experiences when has opted for one specific emulator. I want to know the reasons why he/she believes that is the best option, beyond the official recommendations of one web. Greetings.

beev May 4, 2016 Share May 4, 2016 Retroarch is the perfect starter emulator, once you figure one core out they are all almost the same.

phulshof November 13, 2016 Share November 13, 2016 I use MAME for almost all systems pre-N64. It provides a single configuration interface, and works well on my OS of choice: Linux.Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

VitaminYesSupplements February 4, 2017 Share February 4, 2017 Sega: Kega Fusion SNES: SNES9x Gameboy: Visual Boy Advance PlayStation: ePSXe PSP: PPSSPP N64: Project 64 1.6 NES: VirtuaNES I also occasionally use Retro Arch, but it lacks many of the features, such as up-scaling, that many single system emulators have. Coleman February 4, 2017 Share February 4, 2017 Hmm - most of my research has shown bsnes as the best for snes and project 64 tends to include ransomware.. :/

I've used 1.6 for years without any problems. 2.1 is also safe, but 1.6 is a much better emulator anyways.
gmambrose February 8, 2017 Share February 8, 2017 I love retroarch, the perfect all in one solution! Why have 20 different programs installed when you can have 1? I do use dolphin for wii and gamecube games.
Coleman February 9, 2017 Share February 9, 2017 It looks like retro arch now has a dolphin core... I have been seeing more and more people suggesting better results not using retro arch, I don't really understand why though :/ so much to learn. Ted777 February 11, 2017 Share February 11, 2017 Just curious, is there anytime RetroArch doesn't perform as well as a dedicated emulator?

hojo February 19, 2017 Share February 19, 2017 http://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Main_Page Website has information on all ones emulation needs. Just point noobs to it. Most emulators for older systems are all high compatibility so it is pretty much pick your poison there. I personally use Mesen for nes, snes9x for snes, and mupen64plus for n64
biglc316 March 28, 2017 Share March 28, 2017 I notice that most are loving retro arch. This may be a noob question but how many platforms does retro arch successfully emulate?
hojo March 29, 2017 Share March 29, 2017 Almost everything from psx down. retroarch has cores for psx, n64, nes, snes, arcade (mame), saturn, sega genesis, master system, etc. Go to the official page and it will list all the cores available.
