  2. Name: Virtual Boy - LaunchBox Tutorial Category: News and Entertainment Date Added: 2016-12-17 Submitter: SentaiBrad Today's tutorial is about the odd, commercial failure of a console called the Virtual Boy. This console is actually fairly intriguing, and not really a handheld but it's technically portable. Either way, after changing the red color of this system to a more neutral black and white, the system's games can shine through and there are still several amazing experiences here to have. 11. Name: Unconventional Compression - Feature Specific LaunchBox Tutorial Category: Emulation Tutorials Date Added: 2016-12-11 Submitter: SentaiBrad In today's tutorial, is a complicatd one all about Unconventional Compression, or how to compress your games without using archival methods like a .rar or .7z. This covers a generally safe method on how to compress or cut out dummy data and how it works for PS1, PS2, PSP, GameCube and Wii. PS1 utilizes PBP's, PS2 and PSP utilize CSO's (though slightly different), GameCube doesn't change file extension (or rather this method doesn't) but it does still zero out dummy file data, and Wii utilizes WBFS. PBP's, CSO's and WBFS files all utilize some form of compression, and some utilize zeroing out dummy data as well. That's the easiest way I can explain it in a quick video description... The Retro Remix song of the week this week is titled Hero of Celceta, remixed by OceansAndrew and Scaredsim, based on Ys 4. The song is as epic as Falcom music usually is as well. This month in gaming is all about the original Tales of game, Tales of Phantasia and the game that started the hit JRPG series. If you enjoyed this weeks RSS, then leave your comment below! Name: Retro Style Spotlight [11-15-16] TurboGrafx, NeoSD, Tyranny, Kirby's Toy Box, Link to the Past Category: News and Entertainment Date Added: 2016-11-19 Submitter: SentaiBrad In this edition of Retro Style Spotlight, last weeks tutorial was based on the TurboGrafx 16 and TurboGrafx CD, so if you need some help getting those set up, check it out. Today's top stories is about the newly released Neo Geo AES and MVS flash cart called NeoSD, which is now available for purchase! I also want to spotlight a new CRPG that is released by the same developers who made Pillars of Eternity, and is a throwback to older CRPG's just like Pillars, called Tyranny, that is extremely dark. There has also been some new Sattelaview games that have been found thanks to Frank Cifaldi and his group called Kirby's Toy Box, and is a series of sub or mini games that are not the greatest, but something that looks interesting and I am happy that it exists. This weeks Retro Remix Song is called Pull the Plug by WillRock, and is an awesome Electro High Temp song that mixes Mega Man 1 and Mega Man 10. This month in gaming is all about the Legend of Zelda Link to the Past and it's amazing legacy that it left behind. 24. Name: Retro Style Spotlight [11-8-16] Daytona & Cruis'n, MiniNES Teardown, Diablo Remake, Ocarina of Time Category: News and Entertainment Date Added: 2016-11-19 Submitter: SentaiBrad In this edition of Retro Style Spotlight, I covered last weeks tutorial which was all about the Neo Geo MVS and the Neo Geo CD, so check them out if you want to play those systems in LaunchBox. Otherwise, today's top stories was about Daytona and the Cruis'n racing series of arcade games getting full sequels, and the Cruis'n sequel is set for release in December. The NES Mini has been torn down, and it's actually very surprising what is inside of that little case and the power behind emulating the Nintendo Entertainemtn System. Diablo 1 is getting re-made, for the most part, in side of Diablo 3 as a free update. The update will include music and sound effects inspired and or lifted from the original game, as well as a filter that retro styles the existing game. This week's Retro Remix Song is a light remix on the original Tristram theme from Diablo 1, how fitting. This month in gaming is all about the universally well regarded Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo 64.
