Well I was wondering doesn't the same emulators for NES also work for N64, SNES and the other Nintendo. Sorry don't know much about the emulators yet would like to hear from you guys if there is one or two that handle multiple consols. Or is it better to have different Emulators for each consol

M.E.S.S. is a multi system emulator. you can read up on it at the link below.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi_Emulator_Super_System I don't personally use it, but have heard good things about it. I personally like having different emus for different console, but I suppose it's all just a matter of preference. Below is my current emu setup:

System                                Emulator

----------------------------------------------------

Arcade:                               Mame

Atari 7800:                          ProSystem

Nintendo:                            Nestopia

Nintendo SNES:                  SNES9x

Nintendo 64:                       Project64

Nintendo Game Boy:           Visual Boy Advance

Nintendo Game Cube:        Dolphin

Sega Master System

/Genesis/32X/Game Gear:  Fusion

Sega Dreamcast:               NullDC

Sony Playstation:               Epsxe

Sony Playstation 2             PCSX2

Maybe I am just a little too oldschool but I run MAME and Daphne only.  I am not much interested in emulating console machines and for systems like Naomi,  well,  I have an actual Naomi system with a NetDimm installed that I Net Boot to....

One day I'd like to build a virtual pinball machine though.  One day.

Just started getting back in to emulation again and used to use alot of deiffernt emulators (alot of them already mentioned by other members) but since ive started again ive been using Retroarch for the 11 systems i have set up at the moment which are Nintendo 64, Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo Game Boy, Nintendo Game Boy Advance, Nintendo Game Boy Color, Nintendo Virtual Boy, Sega 32X, Sega Game Gear, Sega Genesis, Sega Master System & Super Nintendo Entertainment System and seems to be running them fine so far but im sure i will have to branch out to more emulators as i add more systems.

Well yes, this is very likely :) I am not sure what is the current status of M.E.S.S., which is supposed to be(come) an emulator of all home consoles and computer systems. Last time I checked, it still didn't support all the most popular ones. But even then, to my understanding the M.E.S.S. project is definitely not game-oriented so it doesn't have the purpose of supporting all games to work, and that to a lot of people means that probably they still need other emulators.

Plus I suppose it's always good to have choice especially if I remember correctly ive had some roms in the past that didnt play nicely with certain emulaters (cant remeber anything specific) although they could have just been bad dumps I had.

That used to be my experience as well, but I have to say that nowadays everything works for me, and I only use one emulator per system.

Mess for the more retro side of consoles. Pre Nintendo and Sega. Then RetroArch for everything up to PS1 then you going to be looking for stand amines for everything else and a few gaps.

Dolphin, NullDC, PCSX, PPSSPP are prob the main later stages in emulation. But with some big additions being released lately, some good systems being added :)
